Slates Harwell LLP's business is built on our relationships – not only with our clients and colleagues, but also within our community. One of the ways our attorneys give back to the local community is through service on boards and in leadership roles benefitting Dallas charitable organizations as well as the construction industry. Slates Harwell is proud to share that four of our attorneys have recently been invited to serve in leadership capacities with the following organizations.

John Slates has been elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for TEXO, The Construction Association. TEXO combines the two largest and most influential national construction industry associations – the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) – to unify, advocate and advance the construction industry in North and East Texas.

Colbie Brazell has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Construction Education Foundation of North Texas. The organization is a self-supporting foundation with widespread construction industry participation, which provides the finest in construction industry training in the North Texas area.

Aaron Capps has been selected to the 2022 – 2023 new members class of the TouchDown Club of Dallas. The TouchDown Club of Dallas is a group of like-minded men working together to raise charitable donations and contributions for The Ashford Rise School of Dallas, an early childhood education program for children ages 6 months to 6 years with developmental disabilities.

Ben Warden has been accepted into the 2022 Leadership Class of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. The leadership program was created in 1997 as a way for young lawyers to hone leadership skills and make a difference in their community and the bar. Only a small group of lawyers are selected to the program each year, and each class organizes a project benefitting an organization within the Dallas community.

Congratulations to all and thank you for investing your time and skills to give back to our community!

After a two year hiatus from meeting in person, it was great to be back in a room full of Texas construction lawyers this week at the 35th Annual Construction Law Conference, held at the La Cantera Resort in San Antonio!

The week was spent learning about current issues and industry changes in construction law, reconnecting with colleagues, and spending quality time with clients.

Our very own, Greg Harwell, presented to nearly 1,000 construction attorneys on how recently passed Texas House Bill 2237 impacts lien claims and rights.

Until next year!
