This past Saturday we celebrated one of the most influential figures in the Dallas music scene J Hatch. Hatch recently passed away, and we wanted to celebrate his life, the relationships, and the people he brought together in this city. I had the opportunity to be apart of the team that put the event together and I left inspired. He was quoted saying “Do what you love to do, not what you have to do” and that has really stuck with me. I know he would have been happy to see all of us producers back together and in the music. It was good to see all of the familiar faces. I hope we can continue to get together and keep pushing the Dallas music scene forward. 🕊️

I remember reaching out to Hatch when I first started throwing the . Just asking for knowledge (and a sponsorship lol). He was so willing to help. I’m saddened to hear about his passing. I first met him participating in an istandard event at the Texas Urban Music Summit 2008. Just a young guy eager to make an impact. I appreciate the knowledge and wisdom. Such a nice genuine person. It’s funny thinking about it…I wouldn’t even know some of yall if it wasn’t for his event. I’ve met some of my closest music producer comrades because of him and istandard.
I hope to have an impact like he has had one day on the music producer/song writer community.
