Bittersweet news… After six and a half wonderful years, Education Manager Jake Poinsett is leaving the Trinity River Audubon Center to start an exciting new role as Senior Manager of Community Building Programming for the National Audubon Society!

In his time at TRAC, Jake has helped tens of thousands of people develop a deeper relationship with the nature of Dallas. You might have never thought you’d end up passionate about snakes, LBBs (Little Brown Birds), or grasses, but once you’ve seen them through Jake’s eyes it’s impossible not to love them.

Jake played a game-changing role in the habitat restoration at our center, overseeing the planting of thousands of native plants to provide food and habitat for birds and other wildlife. That impact has rippled out across the region as he’s worked hard to promote healthy habitat management at properties ranging from backyards to ranches all across North Texas.

Most importantly, Jake’s an all around awesome guy. His kindness, good humor, and passion have touched the lives of countless people in our community. He may not be from Dallas originally, but Dallas is a better place because he came here.

If you’ve ever met Jake, he’d love the chance to say goodbye. He’ll be hanging out at our front desk one last time on Saturday, June 27th. We hope you’ll swing by to reminisce on good times and congratulate our friend on his new role!

We love you, Jake!
Ki-Ki-Kerr!
