July 10, 2026: Stop Kicking and Start Trusting

Devotional
There is a vivid image behind the phrase Jesus used when He confronted Saul. Kicking against the prick refers to a plow animal that fights against the sharp metal goad used to guide it. Every kick only drives the point deeper. The resistance does not stop the direction. It only increases the pain.

Some of us have been kicking for a long time. God has been calling us toward something, and we have been pushing back. Maybe it is a ministry we keep avoiding. Maybe it is a relationship we need to repair. Maybe it is a habit we know needs to go. We have told ourselves it is impossible, or that we are not ready, or that God can use someone else.

But God does not change His mind just because we resist. He is patient, and He is persistent, and He will have His way. The question is simply how long we want to make the journey harder than it needs to be.

Today is an invitation to stop fighting and start trusting. The same God who transformed Saul into Paul is fully capable of doing something remarkable in your life. All He needs is your surrender.

Reflection Question
What is one thing God has been calling you toward that you have been resisting, and what is one small step you could take today to move in that direction?

When are you going to trust God enough to let the Lord have His way in your life? When are you going to trust him enough that you will begin to attempt the things that you’ve already determined were impossible to do?

Prayer
God, I surrender the areas where I have been fighting Your direction. Give me the courage to trust You fully and to take the next step, even when it feels impossible. Amen.
