We know you love mulch.
We love mulch.
Mulch is amazing.

But your tree does NOT want to wear it like a turtleneck.

Piling mulch up against the trunk (aka “mulch volcanoes”) can:

❌ Trap moisture against the bark
❌ Cause rot and fungal issues
❌ Invite insects and pests
❌ Suffocate the root flare
❌ Slowly weaken and kill the tree

Trees need to breathe at the base.
That root flare? It should be visible — not buried.

Proper mulch rule:
✔️ 2–3 inches deep
✔️ Spread wide, not tall
✔️ Keep it pulled back a few inches from the trunk

Give your trees breathing room.
They’ll thank you in August. 😉
