My Voice and Performance Coach
02/25/2022
Itโs been a busy week, so I had to cut back on the socials to focus on recording, coaching, & momager life. I still laugh about my role as momager, because I honestly never intended on becoming one. My plate was too full to begin with, But here I am! ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ Anyway, in the world of entertainment and voiceover, you just never know! Every day is different for me. One day Iโm coaching & recording spots or characters for clients, ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ซ๐& the next, Iโm playing Momager & tutor for my kiddos, on set for a commercial on camera, or singing a jingle back at my home studio. ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ๐บ๐ถ๐Ok, sooooโฆStory time!! I havenโt done a long post in a while, so buckle up! ๐
Yesterday, I was coaching some voiceover students and then bam! ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐งI heard from 3 clients within a couple hours (which is always how things go, right?!) One is an on going client, the next was a client I havenโt recorded for in over 5 years, & the other is a TV producer who heard my demos online & contacted me.
Yesterday just happened to be a Network Trifecta. I recorded a few spots for the network podcasts I began voicing recently (thereโs an IG post if you scroll around), a sizzle reel for a new culinary show pitching to network & my first ever set of promos for a new show on another network. ๐ค Interesting times!
As a longtime voice, acting, and singing coach of over 20 years, my advice to voiceover talent, actors, speakers, musicians, and singers has always been the same: Invest most of your time training in your craft. ๐ญ๐บ๐ฃ๐ถ๐Itโs always been my biggest & best investment across all disciplines I specialize in. So many talent rush to pour money into marketing, websites, equipment, & demos, before getting coaching, training or honing in on artistry in their chosen craft(s). Craft & artistry have Always been my # 1 priority.
Never stop learning. Spend time in the practice room learning, training, & working on your craft(s). Donโt skip steps and rush into recording demo reels right away, because demos are your most important marketing tool and the creative process should not be rushed, especially in an extremely competitive market.
Demos DEMOnstrate what you can do. Itโs not uncommon to book directly from your demos, especially in the promo VO world. Honestly, I havenโt even recorded a promo demo yet, but these network producers heard something on my other demos that they liked (and this is not the first time), so Iโll take this is a sign that itโs time to finally invest in one! ๐ One great demo can get you booked, but solid training will Keep you booked. ๐ญ๐บ๐ถ๐ค๐ฃ๐ Happy Bookings! โค๏ธ
