🐦‍⬛Introduction to Birding registration now open!

Audubon Dallas is partnering with North Texas Master Naturalists to offer a beginner’s birding class at Wild Birds Unlimited, East.

🐦‍⬛Join the flock for a fun Introduction to Birding course for beginner’s to learn the skills needed to take flight into the world of birding! In this informal class, you will learn the essentials, such as - how to select and use binoculars, choosing field guides, popular apps like Merlin, overview of bird behavior and migration, bird families and species you can find in North Texas, how to find and identify birds, birding ethics and conservation opportunities you can contribute to locally. This 3 session class will be taught by Master Birder Jeanne Kuehn and Audubon Dallas board member Karen Carpenter with 2 classroom discussions, followed by an easy bird walk to practice what we’ve learned (weather permitting) where we will find and identifying birds at a local hotspot with help from experienced guides. Then, after a few weeks of homework consisting of joining one or more local bird walks of your choice (or watching the birds in your backyard) to practice your new skills, we will meet up again to review your progress on a final bird walk at the beginning of Spring migration to experience the shifting species diversity that makes birding in Texas so special.
