Dallas Baptist Association

From Executive Director Ryan Jespersen
Today we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, celebrating the freedoms we strive to uphold and the boundless opportunities to share the love of Jesus Christ. As believers, we are grateful for the freedom to pray, serve, and spread the message of The Gospel. We pray that events held by our churches throughout this area will draw people to Jesus and a relationship with a church who cares for them.
As Baptists, our pursuit of religious liberty remains a cornerstone of our contribution to the nation. God Bless America!

Today, we celebrate the Juneteenth Holiday.
Dr. Marlow McGuire, DBA's Director of Pastor Health, reflects in this way on this special holiday:
“Juneteenth (short for ‘June Nineteenth’) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to ensure that all enslaved people were freed. The troops’ arrival came two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end of slavery in the United States for all people. As we reflect upon the extraordinary diversity of the churches that make up the Dallas Baptist Association, we join in the national celebration of Juneteenth and acknowledge the resilience of a group of people who have displayed remarkable faith in God during very challenging times. We are grateful, particularly for our African American churches and the unique contributions they bring to reaching our area with the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Camp begins today at Mt. Lebanon, a ministry of DBA for over 80 years. Last week, Dr. Eddie Walker, Executive Director, shared with summer staff about the history of Baptists, what it means to be a Baptist camp and a church-centric camp, our staff culture, and the fact that we share the gospel in an age-appropriate way every single camp.
