"HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method" is written by the founder of the HypnoBirthing Institute and the developer of the HypnoBirthing philosophy, Marie Mongan. Her book talks a lot about how her philosophies came to be and how they work. These include stories from when she was a little girl, hearing about her traumatic birth and witnessing her cat give birth unassisted. One of the most memorable chapters is the history of how birth came to be in the Western world today, highly monitored and regulated. Marie describes and explains how your body is built and capable for birth and how relaxation, education, and preparation are all it takes to experience birth as it was meant to be.

I am sure many of you have already read it, as the HypnoBirthing course is taken by many OmBalance families. But if you haven't taken the HypnoBirthing class, I highly recommend you consider it for your next pregnancy and get a head start by reading the book today!

"The Birth Partner" by Penny Simkin, provides a great overview of birth and especially focuses on how your birth partner can contribute to the many moving parts of labor. It includes many helpful components, like reviewing the difference between pre-labor and progressing labor, breaking down the stages of labor, and the different medical decisions new parents must make. It includes images, comfort techniques, writing, and diagrams throughout. Very helpful for labor prep!
