A 6-year-old beagle named Daisy was found tied to a fire hydrant with a small backpack filled with her favorite toys — and a heartbreaking note from her owner, explaining she could no longer care for her due to serious medical struggles.
Daisy was discovered on a quiet neighborhood corner, where a passerby stopped, kept her warm, and waited, hoping the owner would return. But no one came.
The owner, reportedly facing homelessness and undergoing chemotherapy, later shared that she had called multiple places, desperately trying to find someone to take Daisy. With no help available, she made the painful decision to leave her somewhere she knew Daisy would be found quickly and safely.
What stood out most wasn’t just the image — it was the compassion that followed. Instead of judgment, the rescue organization responded with empathy, recognizing the love behind the decision:
They saw the care in how Daisy was safely secured.
They saw the thoughtfulness in choosing a visible, safe location.
They saw the love in her healthy condition and the note asking for help.
Daisy’s story touched thousands. When she became available for adoption, families lined up to meet her — and she soon found a new, loving forever home.
Sometimes love means holding on.
And sometimes, it means letting go.
