Tomorrow is Halloween and I say we all ghost diet culture once and for all! 👻
Why is diet culture so harmful?
Diet culture makes us feel guilt/shame for:
1️⃣ Eating certain foods
2️⃣ Not exercising “enough”
3️⃣ Not having the “ideal” body type
So this Halloween I want to remind you to:
🎃 Wear the costume you like, not the one that’s the “most flattering”
🎃 Eat the candy that sounds yummy, not the one that’s “guilt free”
🎃 Be present and enjoy the holiday with your loved ones
🎃 Remember that pictures are meant to capture the moment, not be used for comparison/body checking

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week and the theme for 2021 is “Every BODY has a seat at the table!”
I’ve seen a lot of post this week pointing out all the bias that come up in eating disorder treatment. We are working towards demolishing weight stigma, but we still have A LOT of work to do and it’s been a long process. Fatphobia is still very present in ED treatment, from DSM-5 criteria for diagnosis to insurance coverage being denied due to “not meeting weight criteria” and everywhere in between.
Today, tomorrow, everyday - F*CK DIET CULTURE! 🙅🏻♀️
