Today, I pause to honor the souls who paid the ultimate price for freedom, the brave men and women whose sacrifices gave others the gift of tomorrow. Memorial Day is more than a holiday; it is a reminder that freedom is never free, and that behind every peaceful sky lies the courage, pain, and sacrifice of countless hearts.
I painted this piece, The Price of Freedom, as a reflection of that truth.
The white dove rises wounded, carrying both pain and hope. Beneath it rests another bird in its fragile nest, a symbol of innocence, homeland, family, and the lives forever changed by conflict and oppression. The blood is not there to glorify suffering, but to remind us that every freedom we enjoy has been purchased through sacrifice somewhere in human history.
Today, I also hold the people of Iran in my heart.
May hope rise where fear has lived.
May light return where silence has been forced.
May the people of Iran one day experience a freedom that does not demand the loss of their children, their voices, or their dreams.
And may we never forget that true freedom is not only political. Freedom is the freedom to speak, to create, to love, to dream, and to live with dignity.
To all those who have sacrificed their lives for freedom anywhere in the world: we remember you.
And to those still waiting for freedom: do not lose hope. Even wounded wings can still rise.
A fire alarm rarely goes off when life feels convenient.
Emergencies happen in the middle of ordinary life — during soccer practice, grocery runs, or family dinners.
That’s why an estate plan matters.
It’s like a fire extinguisher:
you hope you never need it… but you’d never want to live without it.
If your family had to make important decisions tonight, would they know what to do?
Who makes medical decisions?
Who protects the children?
Who has access to the accounts?
The best time to create a plan is before life demands one.
Watch this video — because peace of mind isn’t built during the emergency. It’s built before it. 🤍
Most parents think estate planning is about passing down assets.
But for families raising a child with special needs… it’s about protecting a lifetime of care.
One small mistake — even a direct inheritance — could unintentionally affect critical benefits like SSI or Medicaid.
That’s why Special Needs Trusts matter so deeply.
Not because they protect money alone, but because they help protect stability, dignity, therapies, caregivers, education, and your child’s future.
A proper plan creates something every parent hopes for:
peace of mind knowing your child will continue to be cared for, even when you’re no longer the one doing it yourself.
Watch this video to understand why thoughtful planning can make all the difference for the people who depend on you most. 🤍

It is an honor to present Estate Planning 101 to the AIAPO community. Thank you for the invitation and for creating a space to educate, empower, and protect what matters most.
As an attorney, one of the most fulfilling ways I recharge is by serving my community and honoring my roots. Today, I had the privilege of hosting the Iran table at HP CultureFest, a beautiful celebration of global cultures that reflects the power of connection, diversity, and shared humanity.
