Every one of this year's Meritorious Action honorees faced a split-second decision and chose to help.

Jason Alaniz of CPS Energy was working nearby when a customer's ladder struck an overhead primary line. He immediately rendered lifesaving CPR and coordinated the emergency response until crews arrived.

Anselmo Borunda of Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline was working in a remote area during extreme heat when he found an elderly woman who had fallen and couldn't get up. He helped her to safety, preventing what could have become a serious medical emergency.

Lucas Cypert and Damien Griffith of ONE Gas were completing a routine leak repair when they discovered an injured customer unable to leave her home. Their quick assessment and immediate call to 911 turned an ordinary service call into a lifesaving moment.

Bubba Jackson and Chris Worrell of Spire responded to an odor complaint and found an elderly customer using her gas range for heat after her heat pump failed. They danger-tagged the unsafe appliance, then purchased and installed a space heater so she could stay warm and safe.

Johnathan Osborne of Miller Pipeline was new on the job when he encountered a choking homeowner. He performed the Heimlich maneuver and cleared her airway.

Each of these honorees made a choice in the moment that mattered most, and that choice made all the difference.
