Bootlegger's Drag Strip at N-Control
Bootlegger's is back to drag racing after the asphalt sealing and crazy schedule of the last couple months! And, we're starting something new.
Sunday Drags at Bootlegger's, Sunday March 6.
Thanks to Brad Biddle, we'll be running full timing with slips using his Trackmate system. This will allow us to start Bracket Racing, where each driver essentially competes against their own ability to be consistent.
The standard Cash Days classes -- 13.5T Street and Street Outlaw -- also available.
To give us a little extra time with the system (which will be set up here for the first time Sunday morning) start time will be 1pm. Brats will be served in the noon hour.
Cash Classes: $10 track fee per driver, $20 buy-in, 80/20 pot split between 1st and 2nd place.
Bracket: $5 track fee per car gets you three TNT hits on full timing. $10 pot optional, 100% to top finisher in the pot. Double elimination. 5 second maximum dial-in (subject to change... that a guess). Drivers must be able to make a 5 minute turn-around.
Please vote in the poll that I will post for this race in the N-Control Racing Group so I can estimate brats.
Super happy to announce that I've worked out a long-term borrow of a timing system for Bootlegger's!
With the system, we'll be starting a bracket class, open to a wide variety of cars. Basics of bracket racing. Each driver selects their dial in... the time they expect to run. The cars leave on individual green lights, staggered such that they will cross the finish at the same time if both run exactly their dial in time. Jumping the green is a DQ. Breaking out, a run under your dial in, is a DQ. If both cars break out, the car nearest its dial in wins.
I hope bracket racing will open up drag racing to more folks. It's currently quite a large investment in time and money to compete in the classes we've been running, and the winners generally come from an elite few. Everything from nitro to dragsters to outlaws to Slashes to monster trucks are welcome... and with consistency have a chance to win.
Bracket will be double elimination and "pot optional", with a $10 buy-in and the pot going to the highest finishing car that bought in. $5 track fee per bracket car gets you four timed runs during TNT, assuming you are ready. One driver may enter multiple cars, but each car may only enter once. To allow the race day to flow briskly, bracket cars should be able to race on a 10 minute turnaround.
Bootlegger's will continue to drag Outlaw and 13.5T classes as interest allows.
The next race is Sunday, Match 6.

Brief look at schedule:
Sunday September 26: Cash Days
Sunday October 3: Cash Days
Sunday October 17: Cash Days
October going forward, we're back on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.
Starting with the October 3 event, I will be adding Super Street to the poll. This seems to be the up and coming class for national events, and there is some interest locally. Super Street is no bars, open ESC, open motor. All other normal Outlaw rules apply.
