⚾️ What a way to close out the final season as Archer Select 8U!
The boys wrapped up their final tournament together with a weekend full of grit, determination, and heart.
Saturday started with two tough pool play games. They came up just short in the first game, falling 7-8, but bounced back with an 8-6 victory in game two to secure the No. 2 seed in their pool.
Sunday brought the possibility of three games, and the boys were ready for the challenge. They opened with an 11-6 win, then battled through a long four-hour break before taking game two, 8-5, punching their ticket to the championship game.
In the championship, they were excited to face their buddies from Lions Baseball 8U (they pinky promised each other they would end the season in a championship game together and they delivered 😜). It was an incredible game between two teams that left everything on the field. Both sides battled until the final out, but Select came up just one run short, finishing as tournament Runner-Up.
A huge thank you to Daniel Farrell from Mountain View for stepping in and helping the boys this weekend. They truly couldn’t have done it without you.
What stood out most wasn’t the wins or losses - it was the toughness and resilience this team showed all weekend long. Jaxon took a hit to the eye and kept competing - unfortunately it ended in a concussion but the good news is that he is ok! Ethan took a line drive off the shin while pitching and stayed in the game. Landon was hit in the face by a ball that immediately swelled into a nasty bruise, yet he chose to keep playing - even when the umpires suggested otherwise. Multiple players took hard shots to the helmet and body throughout the weekend, but not one of them quit. They continued to battle for each other every step of the way.
This team’s journey makes this finish even more special. They started the season facing adversity and learning some tough lessons. Necessary changes were made, the boys locked in, and the hard work started to pay off. At one point, they sat at 2-17. They finished the second half of the season playing in almost every championship game.
That kind of growth, perseverance, and commitment is something to celebrate.
The scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story, but this season did. These boys learned how to compete, how to overcome adversity, and how to fight for one another. They built friendships, confidence, and a team culture that will carry with them long after the season ends.
💙 Next stop: AquaSox 9U.
We couldn’t be more proud of this group of young athletes. The future is bright, and these boys are truly something special. ⚾️🏆
