Big Ridge Baptist Church
Summary of today's sermon:
The love of Jesus for us is without compare. Though Paul compares the love a husband is to have for his wife to that
of Jesus and the church, the comparison can only point us to a greater reality than words can express. Jesus loves us and willingly gave His life for us. The result of that great love is that we, the church, are now able to be presented to Him. Sin has been dealt with, and we now stand in fellowship with God. In His love, the stain of sin is removed. The judgment our sin deserved has been satisfied. The guilt of sin has been removed through Christ, and one day every stain of sin will be completely gone. His love does even more. We can live in the present holy and blameless. Paul views Jesus’ love for us through the lens of covenant love. As a husband lovingly cares for his bride, Jesus’ love draws us into fellowship with Him.
Apart from Christ, we cannot produce the righteousness that reconciles us to God. Because we inherit a sinful nature from Adam, apart from Christ we remain incapable of pleasing God through our own righteousness.
This is a great love Jesus has for us.
