During pregnancy, it’s crucial to stay safe in the heat. Pregnant individuals are more susceptible to heat exhaustion and heat stroke due to their body’s natural cooling mechanisms working harder. To protect themselves, they should:

Stay Hydrated: Drink at least 64 ounces of water daily, especially in hot weather. Avoid caffeinated and sugary drinks.

Recognize Symptoms: Heat exhaustion symptoms include headache, dizziness, and muscle cramps. Heat stroke is more severe and requires immediate medical attention.

Dress for the Heat: Wear loose, breathable fabrics and seek shade when outdoors. Submerging feet in water can help lower body temperature.
