We’re excited to welcome the Anne Arundel County Free School Museum to National Night Out!

Join us on Tuesday, August 4th at 6:00 PM at the Crofton Country Club and be sure to stop by their booth to discover a fascinating piece of Anne Arundel County history.

The Anne Arundel County Free School is the last remaining school built at the direction of Maryland's Colonial Legislature in 1723. Construction began in 1724, and the school served students on and off until it permanently closed shortly after the Civil War. After years as a private residence and a period of abandonment, it was rediscovered in 1972 and preserved as a museum.

Today, dedicated volunteers from the Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association manage the museum and share the story of colonial life and education with visitors of all ages.

At National Night Out, families can learn more about this remarkable nonprofit organization and children can experience history firsthand by playing colonial-era games!
