Are you ready to fence like a Three Musketeer, enjoy sweets like a Frenchman, and delve into the culture and heritage of Noirmoutier, Crestview's French Sister City? Then come celebrate Bastille Day (a couple days early) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at the historic Bush House/Crestview History Museum. The Crestview Area Sister City Program joins the museum in observing our 30th anniversary of friendship and partnership with Noirmoutier, a congenial island community off the west coast of France.

Our friends at Emerald Coast Blades fencing club will conduct fencing demos and even let you try on the protective gear and take a stab at the sport yourself (pun very intended!). Meanwhile, in the kitchen learn how to make a proper crêpe and sample other French treats. Sister City Program members will be on hand to share the island's culture as you view displays and videos about Noirmoutier. Plus, we'll welcome members of the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter, who at 11:30 a.m. will dedicate our new cedar sapling in the Bush House front yard, replacing a tree lost many years ago. (There's a connection: King Louis XVI dang near bankrupted the royal treasury supporting our Revolutionary War.) Bring the kids and friends. It's all free! See you here!

Bonjour y’all! It’s pique-nique day! Bring picnic food to share and join us in Twin Hills Park! Note we had to move to the west picnic shelter off Purl Adams Avenue. The east shelter is already occupied. Just look for the flags! See you shortly!
