See My America

On Monday morning, I underwent a minimally invasive mitral valve repair. While it’s considered minimally invasive, it is still serious heart surgery.
I’ve been very well cared for at Naples Baker Hospital and am progressing well. All of the doctors are pleased with my numbers and recovery so far. I have one final check in the morning and, if all goes as expected, I should be discharged afterward.
Overall, this has been a very positive experience, though certainly painful and uncomfortable at times. I view it as an investment in my heart health for the next 30 years.
God has provided an incredible team of gifted doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff who have been professional, compassionate, and encouraging throughout this journey. Many thanks and blessings to each of them. My appreciation for those who work in health care has only grown through this experience.
Thank you as well to everyone who has prayed, sent messages, and offered encouragement. Your support has meant a great deal to Stacie and me.

We’re spending some time in Green Cove Springs, and one of Tom’s adventures was visiting the Historic Railroad Festival. It was a fun day filled with local music, classic cars, rope-making demonstrations, a tour of the old historic jail, and a visit to the Clay County Historical Society museum.
The history of this area is fascinating, and it was a great way to spend the day exploring and learning more about the community. What a fun little field trip!
