SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE - 5/16 2:45PM CDT (Risk 2 of 5) 🟨
We need a break and we know you all need a break, but we have to get through Friday and Saturday first!

There are expected to be multiple rounds of rain between Friday and Saturday and concerns for possible flooding are increasing. The first round of rain appears to be non-severe and will be around the time the morning commute starts.

Round #2: This round is focused on the late afternoon into the evening hours for the western portion of the area and then into the early hours on Saturday for the eastern portion. This is expected to be an MCS (Mesoscale Convective System) even. The severe risk isn't as prevalent as last weeks storms, but there are still a few risk. The continuation of flooding is a possibility along with wind gust up to 60mph, isolated areas of hail, and a brief tornado (cannot be ruled out).

Round 3: Confidence in this round is very low, it will all depend on how stable the atmosphere is after round 2. However, a system is expected to move through on Saturday. While the timing is also uncertain, a line of thunderstorms is expected to enter the west side around 5-6am Saturday morning and be east of Jefferson County by early afternoon. Uncertainty remains on the risk for Saturday but we will continue monitoring for the latest updates.

A mid level disturbance is making itself known. A low level boundary paired with unstable air close to the surface will provide ingredients for strong storms to form now until late this evening. Confidence in the severity of the storms is very low, but the main threats could be isolated areas of damaging wind and hail.
