COVINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCES BROCK LOMAX AS NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL HEAD COACH

Covington Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Brock Lomax, a 2019 graduate of Covington High School, as the new Middle School Football Head Coach.

One of the most accomplished athletes in school history, Lomax starred as the Chargers' starting quarterback for four seasons, leading Covington to three Region Championships and back-to-back State Runner-Up finishes in 2017 and 2018. He remains Covington's all-time leading passer and ranks third all-time in school history with 81 career touchdowns.

During his outstanding senior season in 2018, Lomax threw for 15 touchdowns and rushed for 19 more, earning All-State honors. His success extended beyond the football field, as he helped lead the Covington baseball team to a State Championship in the spring of 2019.

Following graduation, Lomax continued his athletic career at Austin Peay State University, where he competed in both football and baseball.

"Brock Lomax is a winner and the most competitive player I have ever coached," said Coach Kirby. "He is one of the best all-around players to ever come through Covington. Brock was a tremendous leader and teammate, and I'm excited to see him return home and put on the purple and gold once again."

Coach Lomax says, “Covington is home to me, always has been and always will be. It is an absolute honor to return to the football program that built me. I’m excited for the opportunity to pour into the next generation, and to show and teach them what it means to be a Charger.”

Covington Athletics is excited to welcome Coach Lomax back to the Charger family and looks forward to the positive impact he will have on the next generation of student-athletes.
