You don’t need to have all the answers.

Whether you’re a therapist, parent, teacher, or support person, it can be easy to feel pressure to “get it right” straight away.

But often, the most effective starting point is also the simplest:

“Can you tell me what helps for you?”

It shifts the focus from assumptions to collaboration, and makes space for the person’s own insight, preferences, and lived experience to lead the way.

Support doesn’t have to be perfect.
It just has to be open, respectful, and willing to listen.

[ID: Against a magenta background, with the Reframing Autism logo at the top and the colourful knotwork in the lower left corner, white text reads, 'You don’t need all the answers. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is: “Can you tell me what helps for you?" Beneath the text is an image of one person’s hand reaching out to offer a flower to another outstretched hand].
