Meet Our Surgeon: Mikala Myers, DVM 🩺🐾

With 13 years of veterinary experience, including 8 years at Northshore Humane Society, Mikala Myers, DVM serves as our Director of Veterinary Medical Operations, leading our veterinary team with compassion and a commitment to helping animals live healthier lives.

A graduate of Ross University, Dr. Myers has a passion for soft tissue surgery and especially enjoys performing mass removals, bladder surgeries, and laceration repairs. On one especially busy day, she completed nearly 30 surgeries, helping pets get back to living happy, healthy lives.

When she's not in the clinic, Dr. Myers loves spending time with her husband, their two young sons, and their three pets: Randy Travis and Marcus, their two dogs, and CC Blum, their cat.

What she loves most about Northshore Humane Society is the opportunity to make a difference every day, whether that's providing care for shelter pets or helping families in our community who may not otherwise have access to veterinary services. Knowing she's improving the health and well-being of animals throughout our community is what makes her work so rewarding.

Louise and Lisette came to Northshore Humane Society after being found as strays, but they're ready to leave their days of wandering behind and find families to call their own. They're playful, curious, and full of all the orange-cat charm you've heard about... just with a little extra rarity!

Every day, loving dogs and cats wake up in our shelter hoping today will be the day someone chooses them. Some have been waiting for weeks. Others have been waiting for months. All they want is a family to call their own.

From July 13–18, you have the chance to change a life during Empty the Shelters, sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation.

🐾 Adoption fees are just $25 (plus microchip and prevention) for dogs and cats 6 months of age and older.

🕘 Event Hours: 9:00 AM–4:00 PM daily

When you adopt, you're doing more than giving one pet a home. You're creating space for another homeless animal still waiting for their chance. One adoption truly saves two lives.
