Warming Shelter Open This Evening for Newton County:

Unhoused people in need of emergency shelter can be picked up at the following locations each evening:
1) Rainbow Shelter (7154 Turner Lake Cir SW, Covington, GA 30014)
2) the old K-Mart (now Roses) parking lot (6239 Turner Lake Rd, Covington, GA 30014)
3) Repairers of the Breach Thrift Center on Washington Street (5120 Old Brown Bridge Rd SW, Covington, GA 30014)

Per the news release, security will be provided and people will not be asked to vacate the shelter if the temperature is still in the low 30s in the morning

Covington, county opening warming shelter tonight at church Beginning tonight, the Covington and Newton County governments are partnering on operation of a warming center for homeless area residents.

November 1st is National Family Literacy Day.
