In honor of Men’s Health Awareness Month, Omni Center hosted an Alumni Brotherhood BBQ filled with food, games, laughter, and connection.

Alumni enjoyed volleyball, basketball, Jenga, ping pong, and more—all while staying active, reconnecting, and supporting one another.

The event was a simple reminder that wellness can also look like movement, friendship, laughter, and brotherhood.

Monique Rodriguez’s journey is a powerful example of strength, healing, and purpose.

As a Primary Counselor at Pasadena Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (PCADD), Monique supports participants with compassion, patience, and understanding. After completing the Addiction Studies Program at East Los Angeles College, she continues to use her experience and education to help others believe that healing and change are possible.

Her story is also a reminder that it is never too late to begin again, keep going, and choose a path that feels meaningful.

Today, we honor Independence Day and the freedom, strength, and hope it represents.

As many people gather with family, friends, and community, we also want to hold space for those who may experience the holiday differently. For individuals in recovery, holidays can bring joy, but they can also bring emotions, memories, or challenges.

Please remember, you are not alone. Stay close to your support system, reach out when you need help, and be proud of every healthy choice you make.

From all of us at Social Model Recovery Systems (SMRS), we wish you a safe, meaningful, and peaceful Fourth of July.
