With the spring grass here most of us are being proactive in restricting sugars and for our insulin friends, hay nets have been put to use.

Especially for our IR friends, it’s an absolute necessity to utilize and feed with slow feed nets to help slow consumption, and maintain a healthy body condition. But with the use of nets, comes the restrictions in the body I see as a result. I often encounter horses with lumbar, cervical/thoracic trapezius, and neck/atlas restrictions and over/under development due to nets being hung too high.

Here is a helpful “field study” I conducted this morning with my lease horse to show the difference of all three heights I see nets hung, and the real time effect it has on the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and even cranial region. Some safe and functional options that I recommend listed at the end of the video 😉
