Such a great reminder....
Let’s do a quick check-in with ourselves.
How do you feel after a weekend: refueled and ready for the week or tired and disconnected?
While many of us get our scheduled opportunity to rest on the weekend, we often use that time in ways that leave us feeling tired. God designed us as people who live in rhythms of rest, and intended for that time to be a blessing.
The very word ‘recreation’ suggests that as we commit time to creativity and fun, we experience some re-creation as God’s image bearers. If we spend our ‘rest’ time packed with chores, we miss out. If we collapse in a heap while mindlessly scrolling, we quickly find that refreshing your screen does not refresh your soul.
Rest ≠ checking out of your real life.
Rest = checking in with joy and what fuels you.
As you look ahead to this next weekend, ask yourself:
What fuels my spirit?
What makes me feel connected to God, to others, to myself, and to creation?
Is it a walk outside? A conversation with a friend you’re usually too busy to connect with? Doing something creative with your hands?
Think of something, and plan for it. Then, take a proactive step to add it to your calendar. If you don’t have the details worked out yet, simply write “something” on your calendar. Then, if someone asks you to do a chore or a nagging thought tells you that you ought to do x, y, or z; you can confidently and honestly say “Sorry, I have something on my calendar.”
Make a plan to rest. It’s part of the abundant life Jesus has for you (John 10:10).

You’re never alone.
Here’s why…
After Jesus’ resurrection, the Holy Spirit came to the disciples so that God’s presence could still be with them.
When you believe in Jesus, that same Spirit is with you. God’s presence is always near
Please join me for this 3 day plan to learn more about the Holy Spirit.
