If you’ve never been to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, go ahead and add that to your family must-do list—especially around Christmas when they host Winter Wonder Lights. It’s absolutely beautiful. Beyond the holiday magic, the gardens make such a wonderful location for family sessions. The Tropical Conservatory is one of my favorite spots to explore with all of the lush plants—truly a plant lover’s dream!

This marks my second year traveling down to photograph the Patton family here, and it’s always such a joy. Earlier last year, I was in Athens to photograph their newest little family member and from then to our fall session, I was amazed at how much she had grown and was all smiles throughout their session. This is one of those families I already know I’ll love watching over the years—seeing their little ones’ personalities grow and change is such a gift. And when the littles aren’t exactly in a “photo-ready” mood, that’s perfectly okay. I love leaning into the in-between moments, because those often turn into the most genuine and meaningful images of all.
