John Muir Middle School

Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians,

Early this morning we received a call regarding a fire at the old hospital in town. As a result of the fire, electrical power was cut to the surrounding neighborhoods, which included two of our schools, John C. Fremont Elementary and John Muir Middle School. Out of an abundance of caution, classes at these two campuses were canceled for the day. Parents and staff were notified regarding this decision.

After consultation with the local fire department it was learned that smoke and ash debris from the fire had shifted to the community at large, affecting more neighborhoods and impacting the air quality. The remaining schools were released at 1:15 p.m. All in town extra-curricular activities were also canceled. Parents were contacted and district transportation was adjusted.

All schools in the district will resume as regularly scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday December 5th.
