Under normal conditions, oxygen is carried in the blood by hemoglobin in red blood cells. This has a limit.
In HBOT, patients breathe 100% oxygen at 2 to 3 times normal atmospheric pressure.
This increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in plasma—not just in red blood cells. It can be up to 10–15 times more than normal.
That extra oxygen reaches damaged tissues with compromised blood flow, supporting:
✓ Angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels)
✓ Fibroblast activity (critical for wound healing)
✓ Collagen production
✓ Reduced edema and inflammation
