This is a federal holiday where banks will be closed in honor of Emancipation Day.

🔹Texas ended slavery in 1865 when troops arrived in Galveston Bay
Juneteenth, Friday, June 19, and
announced that enslaved African Americans were finally free! It is the oldest known holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States.

Wheels in the Tamina Community as they serve up a fish fry with all the fixings from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. ($25/plate) accompanied by the Tamina Historic Freedman's Town photo collage,
"The Ground on Which I Stand."

🔹Saturday, June 27 is the MCVMP 250 Walk and BBQ Picnic fundraiser. The walk around the park starts at 9:30, the picnic begins at 11:09am.

🔹Friday, July 3 Margaritaville will have the Music, Freedom, and Fireworks!

🔹VFW 4709 will host an old fashioned 4th of July with free hot dogs, games, prizes, and cotton candy at Candy Cane Park, Saturday July 4 at 2:50pm.
