Lake Creek Academy

The last three days have been packed with magical adventures! Campers built enchanting troll houses after learning about Scandinavian folklore, tie-dyed colorful mermaid tails, decorated unicorn horns, and worked together to create an amazing Enchanted Kingdom. We wrapped up the week by investigating cryptids with Bigfoot footprint races, a Sasquatch scavenger hunt, Loch Ness Monster crafts, cryptid artwork, and learning about the legends and history behind these mysterious creatures. What a fun way to end an unforgettable week!

This week, six students became Dungeon Masters.

Not in theory. Not as a homework assignment. They built their adventures from scratch — complete with a unique world, factions vying for power, and central mysteries — and today each of them ran a live 30-minute D&D session for their peers.

Some sessions found their footing quickly. Some found it in the middle. A few found it in the last five minutes, which is, honestly, exactly how real DM-ing works.

The Dungeon Master Academy intensive is five days, three hours a day, and covers everything from story structure, character motivation, puzzle-design, riddle-writing, world-building to the art of making a good ruling when players do something you didn't plan for — which they always do.

This is what it looks like when students don't just consume stories. They run them — and figure it out as they go.
