During drought conditions, more water isn't always better. Most established lawns only need about 1 inch of water per week, including rainfall, to maintain healthy roots. Use a rain gauge or small container to measure how much water your sprinkler system delivers.

Avoid daily shallow watering, which can lead to weak root systems. Instead, water deeply and less frequently while staying within local watering restrictions.
