This week has been tile fixing week. All the rain we have gotten exposed all the weak points in these systems. To be honest, we are surprised that worked at all. One 6” tile had a pole that was set a little too deep, crushing and restricting the pipe. The other system had several earth anchors into the tile line. Drainage issues are rarely an actual system problem, more often than not, it’s the cause of accidental damage. We also see rodent damage when “ rodent guards “ aren’t installed .

This summer project proved to be more challenging than expected, and I gained plenty of firsthand experience working with sycamore trees. Nonetheless, we completed the job successfully. Big or small—silos included—we’ll make sure the work gets done right.

Winter conditions set in abruptly on this project, but we successfully completed the demolition and removal of the existing silo and barn foundation. The site has been rough-graded and the sand base has been placed and compacted in preparation for the new barn structure. Once weather conditions stabilize, we will return to complete final grading, surface dressing, and any remaining site preparation

This past fall we took out a failing barn wall so a new one could be poured in place to hopefully hold this barn up for another hundred years .

This ditch was so full of silt it only had about 12 inches of flow and would flood the field every time it rains . . We dug it back to its original depth allowing for a maximum flow during those may showers .
