This year was a challenge, that’s for sure. It was full of pain, hardship, uncertainty, and chaos. But before we start thinking about all the reasons we should forget 2020, think about all the things we should remember.

Thank about how much you’ve accomplished.

Think about how much you’ve persevered.

Think about how much resilience you’ve shown.

Think about how much you’ve grown.

Think about how much you’ve changed. And how much the world is changing alongside you.

This year was tough. But you are tougher. 💪

Keep pushing through and reaching for more. You have proven that you can do absolutely anything!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! ✨

It’s been over a month since my last real, sweaty workout.
It’s the first time I’ve taken this much time off in 5 years.
This time, it’s not a doctor telling me I can’t. It’s not a boot or a stress fracture holding me back. This time, it’s a muscular issue. This time, it’s a doctor’s recommendation. This time, it’s a choice. And I’m choosing to get well.
I started to feel this pain 2 months ago. I tried to do my own therapy at home- stretching, resting, rolling. But the pain just continued to get worse as I continued to run, continued to jump, and continued to push myself.
When I finally gave into the fact that this was an injury that I needed to heal, I went to see my physical therapist to come up with a treatment plan. I asked her point blank if I could run. She looked me directly in the eye and asked me, “Is the release you get from running worth the pain you are feeling now?”
That hit me hard.
Is it worth it?
I had to think about it. I had to really think about it. Running is my therapy. Running keeps me happy. Running gives me energy. Running makes me, me.
But if I don’t treat this, if I don’t heal… then maybe running won’t be an option in one year, five years, ten years.
Maybe I won’t be able to jump or hike or do HIIT workouts.
That wouldn’t be worth it.
So this season may look a little bit different than normal. My body may look a little bit different. My IG feed may not be filled with new content daily or even weekly. My Apple Watch move goal has dropped every week as I focus on low impact training and therapy. But this is an important season that I am choosing to take to get healthy and to get well.
Take care of yourself today. Treat your body with respect. It will have profound impact on your future.🖤

Welp. It looks like we’re in a major hypertrophy phase for the foreseeable future 🤷‍♀️💪
I have a left glute injury that has finally gotten to the point of needing treatment (and rest). Thank goodness for the amazing from Empower Physio & Wellness for helping me along this journey! 🖤
It’s been exactly 2 weeks since my last run, and it’ll be a while until my next. Running is my happy place. My therapy. It makes me feel like me. It is always, always excruciating to take a running break for an injury. But I am dedicated to getting healthy before hitting the pavement again. Please pray for my husband and his sanity in the meantime 😂
My focus now is upper body and core strength and lower body therapy for the next couple of months. It’ll be different. It’ll be hard. But it’ll be worth it to exercise pain free again!
This is your PSA to listen to your body, always. When it asks for a break, it needs a break. When there is pain, stop. I’m not the best at listening and usually end up with an overuse injury. This is, unfortunately, no different. So be better than me and listen, stretch, and rest when you need to! 👌

Sending you all the good vibes and hoping you are all staying sane and healthy!✨ Xo

Resting an injury this week and starting to go a little stir crazy 😝
Stretch.
Foam roll.
Rest.
Ice.
Repeat.
It’s important to listen to your body and take the time you need to heal. But, still, I really want to run in the beautiful fall leaves 🍁 and lift some heavy things 💪! Hopefully soon 🤞
How are you guys doing this week?! Tell me all about your workouts. Living vicariously through you! 🖤
P.S. Happy Friday Eve!
P.P.S. I am going to be breaking my test a teensy bit on Saturday with a outdoor event with 🚴‍♀️ who wants to join me?!
Happy almost weekend! ✨ xo
