Joey Fu***ng Jordison!!!

Hands down definitely one of the greatest drummers of all time!

Normal beats per minute, or BPM, for a drummer is 50-100. Although Joey was most times in that normal range there are several examples of him coming in at 150 & more BPM. Even getting as high as 180 BPM in some instances! All the while strapped into a rotating drum riser high above the stage. Very few drummers can reach his level of energy behind a kit. His double-kick was phenomenal! That double-kick hitting like a machine gun was a normal occurrence! His level of skill, energy, & dedication has been & will be forever rarely matched!

I myself always listen first to the drums & bass of a new band before anything else. If those are up to par, then I pay attention to the rest. When I first heard Slipknot back in 2001 after the Iowa album released I heard Left Behind, the first single released. I grabbed the album and I skipped around the tracks at first centering mainly on two at the start. People = S**t & Disasterpiece. I fell in love with the drumming & by default fell in love with the band! If not for hearing the drums of Joey first I'd probably never would've of became a 'Knot fan & those that know me know I absolutely love Corey Taylor!

After Joey's departure I did follow him through his new projects, mostly Vimic & Murderdolls & loved it all.

With all that being said, I am saddened to learn of Joey passing away. I will forever love the art he brought to the world!

RIP Joey Jordison! Go rest with Paul! Forever loved!

Today in music history...

33yrs ago today Guns N Roses released their debut album. Appetite For Destruction became a huge hit album. Known as one of the best hard rock albums of all time. Ranked in several polls year after year in the top 5 and in several as the #1 rock album of all time! This was and still is an album you can start and listen straight through with skipping any tracks. It is that good.

So today we celebrate the day of the release of this great album. But also, we celebrate the good fortune that Lies was not the first GNR album released cuz we may have never been presented Appetite after the terrible flop of Lies!
