Let’s talk RSV, it’s the season, everyone’s talking/paranoid about it. Just like anything else, be wise. If you’re sick stay away from people and kids that don’t have immune systems like you or your family may have.

First, I’d like to say, both of my children have experienced RSV. I believe I have had it too just not as bad. Did I take them to the hospital? No. Did we get over it? Yes. Judge if you want. However, know that I pay very close attention, and feel that having a home remedy for anything that could come our way is a much better option for our health all the way around. If that’s what you do though, you do you, just add these to your care after you have the diagnosis.

Here’s what I did for us when RSV creeped in with success:

🧉Stay well hydrated: coconut water from young coconuts is our favorite, but water and hot tea is great.
🫐Take an extra multi: we always take an extra dose of our already daily multivitamin.
💨Get some cold air on the face. This may seem contradictory but it helps.
💦Use a humidifier/diffuser in your house to keep some healing moisture in the air.
🧂Shoot saline solution up your nose. Or a Neti pot. Something to clear out the gunk.
🛌Get rest, and when you do, sleep propped up.
💎 USE essential oils. Topically (on your skin; your back, chest, behind your knees and on the feet.) Use what’s called a carrier oil so you’re not putting it straight on your skin. If you don’t have one mix with a little lotion. EUCALYPTUS and THYME are the best for RSV, and they work. Start with 2 drops of thyme, 4 of Euc. Rub into your carrier and then all over. Definitely at night, it’ll help you not to cough. Apply it again in the morning.

Doing these things have helped us to get through to healing in no time. Stay consistent until the coughing completely subsided.

Let’s talk: HAND SANITIZER...

It seems the new normal is people using anti-bacterial hand sanitizer every where they go.

Here are some thoughts on Hand Sanitizer that you might not know about, and may help you want to consider just doing to the old fashioned soap and water whenever you can. Since our world now has hand sanitizer wherever we look and is very much encouraged, heres some things to consider.

____________

• We have microorganisms on our skin and throughout our entire body. AKA ‘microbiomes’

• Our skin has its own group of microorganisms that can actually impact our internal microorganisms. (In other words the more sanitizer you use on your hands could effect your gut health!)

• When we use hand sanitizer with 60% ethanol and 70% isopropanol (CDC recommendations) we’re not only killing the bad bacteria, we are for sure killing the good bacteria as well. (The same happens when antibiotics are taken.)

• it is recommended to only use Hand Sanitizer when there is NO access to soap and water because of what it can do to not only our skin, but our internal health as well.

• it will beneficial to find an all natural hand cream/balm that you have with you at all times to help protect your skin microbiome that protects your internal bacteria as well.

• consider starting to take a Probiotic for your gut health at this time to help protect your bodies healthy”flora” or bacteria. If you do not already. (DM me if you would like information on which brands are the best, not all are good quality)

• always remember to use soap and water before hand sanitizer to protect your skin and internal microbiomes.
