Hey Maha,

So I been talking to this dude for about a year now. Real solid. Takes me out, good father, working two jobs, and got his own lil crib. But here’s my problem his baby mama still got a key to his house “for their son,” and that don’t sit right with me. I’m over there, feet kicked up, watching Netflix, and this woman walks in like she pay rent. She didn't knock, she didn't text, nothing. He told me I’m overreacting and that she don’t want him. But baby, the way she was eyeing me up and down, I know different.

I tried to let it slide, but now I’m looking at him funny. If y’all done, why she still got full access? I don’t wanna be insecure, but I’m not no doormat either. He says I’m making drama outta nothing. Maha, am I tripping? Or is this man letting his past mess up our future? I Don’t Wanna Compete With the Past

Sis. Let me start at She got a whole key. Oh no maam, you not trippin. That ain't for their son. That’s for her comfort. You ain't overreactin either. This man is definitely leavin the door cracked open literally and emotionally for her convenience. I don’t care if they are co-parenting or not. There’s boundaries, and he lettin her walk through ‘em barefoot.

Tell him flat out: either she give up that key, or you give up that relationship. You not finna play second to a baby mama who still got 24/7 access. Nah. That’s not co-parenting, that’s co-living. Lock it down or move around.
