Police in South Africa have launched a manhunt after 12 people were killed and nine injured in a mass shooting at the Jumpers Informal Settlement in Cleveland, Johannesburg.
Officials say at least 10 armed suspects opened fire late Tuesday before fleeing in a white vehicle. The motive is under investigation, though police suspect links to illegal mining turf wars.
Provincial commissioner Lt Gen Tommy Mthombeni condemned the attack as “heartless” and “barbaric.”

Somali referee Omar Artan received a hero’s welcome on his return to Mogadishu after being denied entry to the United States.
He was greeted at Adan Adde International Airport by two cabinet ministers and senior officials from the Somali Football Federation.
