These moments of new motherhood caught my eye. Each is a rite of passage that first time parents might not know they are having when they are in it.
We all have to learn for the first time the importance of the deep exhale and integration of your own experience before jumping into mothering. It’s built into birth.
We all have to learn, for the first time, the feeling of not having enough hands…time…energy for seemingly simple and natural acts of taking care of our babies. It’s hard once you’ve trained yourself to independence and then suddenly find yourself needing help with everything. The most basic functions need extra hands & eyes.
But I don’t think this is by accident. I think nature puts us in a vulnerable state for an energetic reason after birth. These similarities of needing so much help make it easier to be on the same level with your infant. It helps you understand and empathize bc you are going through it too.
There’s always a grand plan. A divine design. It’s so intricately woven.
And I love seeing so many of you take up your own weaving.

Spent the day in the woods trying to integrate, process and retain everything practiced and learned during what turned out to be a very challenging weekend. I needed nervous system reset and movement and a safe place to vent all my doubts, frustration and insecurities I have about myself. But it’s nothing a little bonefinding wander couldn’t help. There’s no hurt the woods can’t heal.
Feeling very lucky to be part of such a caring team and to have been with 30 amazing midwives this weekend.
One step at a time, we keep showing up, keep practicing, keep learning.
