Despite being the first track, Link Up is not my favorite song on the album. I put it first because I figured it was the song most people would like the most... the most mainstream of them all. The chorus was the most difficult part to write lyrics for, by far. Camden came up with the synth melody for the chorus and wanted the notes of the chorus vocals to match it. It provided a lot of limitations for my creative expression. For a while, it was going to be something along the lines of "Why don't we hook up, hope you like it rough" lol but I eventually came around to decide that was too provocative. Overall, it's a decent track. The repetitiveness of the chorus started to drive me crazy, so I reduced how many times it was repeated... a bit of a love hate relationship there. "You don't know how, you don't know why, 'cause something tells me by the look in your eyes" was supposed to go after every chorus, but I honestly don't even know how that fits into the song meaning. When I wrote it, I thought it sounded catchy. I put it at the end as an outro to kind of leave the listener perplexed. Future songs will have similar verbiage and randomness.

The video attached to this post was an afterparty at OSU where Camden played the instrumental. I got a major confidence boost from the reaction it received. I realized then how much energy it had and that I wanted to make fun songs like Link Up in the future.
