**UPDATE** URGENT 7/24 Ted Lasso is now up for urgent rescue due to continued behavior issues while he’s in his room. On 7/23 staff went to feed Ted and were unable to do so because Ted was guarding the door and not allowing staff to enter/open to place the bowl in his room. A staff member that he is very comfortable with was able to come and place his food in his room. Ted will need to be adopted or have rescue commitment prior to 5 pm on 7/30.
Bio – Ted Lasso is available for rescue due to behavior concerns. He was originally brought to the shelter by a Warden on 5/31. He was adopted on 6/22 and returned on 6/29 due to not having time to care for him. He is housebroken, was confined to a room or left free run when alone, lived with a female dog (required slow intros because he would become jumpy and over excited), and showed signs of separation anxiety. He was treated for an ear infection, skin infection, an upper respiratory infection, and diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia.
He has had several concerning incidents recently. On 7/21 one staff member was in his room giving him attention and another staff member opened the door to give him more water. Ted lunged at the person giving water, barking, and aggressively snapping at them. They jumped back and tried to shut the door but Ted’s head was already out. Ted continued to try to get to the staff member but the staff member inside the room was able to pull him back by his collar. Ted was immediately friendly with the person inside the kennel and calmed down. On 7/22 in the morning when staff was trying to place a bowl in his room Ted lunged, snapped, and growled at them.
He was tested with a female medium mix on 6/03. He was tensed, sniffed the other dog, then wandered the yard. The other dog tried to initiate play and Ted pawed at her and growled. There was no further escalation but the other dog backed off right away.
Ted is a member of our run club. He also loves playing in the pool & playing fetch. He knows sit & shake. Ted is very treat motivated and eager to please.
He is available for direct adoption and for a rescue to pull. He will be up for reevaluation on 7/28.

Benji-169543
Status: Length of stay- Behavior- Adoptable- Not yet urgent
Intake Date - 5/17/23
Source - ACO Impound.
Age - 4 years, 7 months.
S*x - Neutered Male.
Breed - Pit mix.
Weight - 63 lbs.
Bio – Benji is available for rescue due to an extended stay at the shelter. He started showing a high level of FAS (fear/anxiety/stress) in his kennel pretty quickly. On 5/22 he was growling, held his tail straight in the air and stiff, and alarm barked, and showed his teeth. Later that day another staff member was able to get him out and reported better kennel behavior. Outside Benji kept jumping on the person for attention and allowed handling all over. He was treat motivated, knows sit, and seems to be housebroken. Benji was being worked with by staff and Volunteers prior to going to medical staff for an exam. On 6/05 medical staff attempted an exam. He was flighty and when he was touched near the back end he turned and snapped at their hand. They placed a muzzle so they could complete the exam and Benji continued to growl and try to remove the muzzle. Benji has shown forward aggression towards children while he’s in his kennel. Two children ( 5 yr and 7 yr) walked by his kennel calmly and Benji lunged at the kennel hitting it and began to growl and bark as they walked by.
He was tested with a female Pit mix on 5/22. He approached with a loose body, tail wags, and sniffed her. He was focused on mounting her and had to be pulled away because the other dog lost her tolerance for Benji’s behaviors. He didn’t show aggression but showed excessive mounting.
He is available for direct adoption and for a rescue to pull. He will be up for reevaluation on 7/31.
