According to the recent executive order,
"Modernizing Payments To and From America's Bank Account," the government has mandated the end of all federal paper check disbursements-including tax refunds-effective September 30, 2025.

What This Means for You

• The IRS must transition fully to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) disbursements.

• Paper checks will no longer be issued by the Treasury after September 30, 2025.

• Accepted payment methods going forward will include direct deposit, prepaid cards, and other digital payment options.
