Happy Non-Binary Awareness Week, and if you're seeing this on 7/14, happy Non-Binary People's Day from your favorite non-binary LMT! I am a non-binary trans masc person and am so proud to be part of the q***r community.

The non-binary umbrella can encompass anyone who identifies outside of the traditional binary genders; people who say "I am a little of everything" or "I am none of those things" or "I am something outside of those things" or "sometimes I am one of those things and sometimes I am something else" or "gender? Hardly know 'er!" The gender binary, which strains to put us all into two tidy boxes, is a colonial imperialist idea that serves to classify and divide us! Gross!

The piece shown above was created for me by my dear friend, Leo, DG Vibes - Damn Good since 1975. One of my favorite bits about it is that every time I look at it I find something new; similar to finding new ways to understand myself and my gender and the way I can approach the world through embracing all of what makes me, me!

The (dare I say inaugural?) drag story hour was so much fun! Ms. Reese S. Pieces read a few books and answered a lot of delightful questions! We all danced and learned more about HB 249 and how to push back against harmful legislation.

I'm so grateful to for coming out and sharing the morning with us, and for the families that participated!

Just casually existing as a visible trans person on this Trans Day of Visibility!

A reminder that trans and gender-expansive people are actively being targeted by federal and state governments across the country (and world), and there is little to no protection towards transphobic violence as rights are being continuously stripped from us. But as I heard someone say at the hearings for HB 68 two years ago, I would choose to be trans in every lifetime. Recognizing and honoring this part of my identity has been so life-giving, affirming, and joyous for me, and despite the constant fear of harm sanctioned by my government against me, I would not change this for the world.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility, loves. This world is so much better with you showing up as the most authentic version of yourself, and you are deserving of love, safety, joy, and community. I am glad you're here! ❤️
