Reproductive rights are important to the health of everyone. Always get out and vote for va**nas and the people who have them, but there’s more! Find an abortion fund and donate, find a local group and see when they are planning action and see how you can help, or request educational programming from somewhere like . Cis women, trans men, and enby people with uteruses and/or va**nas need your voice, time, and money. Every little bit helps.

This Pride season coincides with the return of the 17-year cicada (or ci-gay-da) which I think is a fitting reminder to come out in your own time, in your own way. Coming out doesn’t need to be an announcement or big event. It can just be you existing authentically every single day. Or you can decorate/swarm the trees and forests telling the world you are here and you are q***r. It’s up to you. Figuring out who you are is a lifelong journey and you will be forever deciding who you want to be and how you want to exist in the world. Take the time you need. Whenever and however you choose is right. This Pride season remember that you are seen and loved exactly where you are.
You can find this design at www.RhudBarb.com under the “Pride” and “Sexuality and Love” pages.

It’s PRIIIIDE and what better way to celebrate than making sure you and your pals get an annual pap. (“pals” open to interpretation) While medical professionals recommend every 3 years if you haven't had a hysterectomy, you’ve had normal paps, and are under the age of 35, most cervical cancer survivors and advocates for reproductive health will tell you to please have a pap every single year. In the US, paps are part of preventative care and so should be covered under insurance or Medicare/aid. Early detection is key! We want you to be able to keep lovin’ on those l***a! Check out the Pap-aya sweatshirt and mug at RhudBarb.com

About 600,000 hysterectomies are performed every year and it is the second most frequently performed major surgery for people with uteruses after puberty in the US. About 1/3 of people born with a uterus will have it removed by the age of 60 so you probably know someone (or lots of people) whose had a hysterectomy. In a 2016 survey of trans men, about 21% have had the surgery while around 58% said they wanted one. Uteruses are also removed for treatment of uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and certain cancers. Because about 90% of considered hysterectomies are elective most insurances will refuse to cover them. As if we needed another example of policing bodies with uteruses some doctors still require a spouse's permission before performing a hysterectomy. Iowa is planning to introduce a bill that would ban doctors from requiring permission. Yes, in 2021. If you've had a hysterectomy as prevention, treatment, gender affirmation, or for whatever reason - you are not alone. Destigmatize the hysterectomy and tell the world to stop policing bodies - especially ones born with uteruses.
