The Hybrid Plan at UM consists of a lifetime pension component and a 401(a) investment account. Employees who contribute to the 457(b) plan may receive matching contributions from the University according to plan rules. The plan combines a defined benefit pension with a defined contribution account, providing structured retirement benefits along with the ability to direct contributions and select investments within the 401(a) account.
