Last month, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team competed in the annual South Carolina SWAT Challenge: The Ragnarök at the Saw Mill Training Complex in Laurens County.

In this year's event, 10 great tactical teams from South Carolina and Georgia participated. Eight members of our team competed in multiple events throughout the two-day competition. These stages include Breaching, Hostage Rescue, Rappelling, Vehicle Takedowns, Tactical Medic, Sniper, a 3-mile-long obstacle course, and 6 team shooting stages. Despite the cold, heavy rainfall, and mud, Pickens County SWAT was one of the top teams overall and finished second in the team shooting events!

FORGED IN FIRE 🔥

Twice a year, we have the privilege of delivering “Forged in Fire (Military Leadership to Emergency Services)” at the South Carolina Fire Officer Academy. Being part of this program is one of the most impactful things we do.

Thank you to the South Carolina Firefighters Association for the opportunity, and to the cadre who make it happen. We truly have some of the most talented instructors in the State. It’s an honor to serve alongside them.

After 3 days of battling in the Cold and Pouring Rain, York County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team stepped into the Arena and emerged victorious.

They didn’t just show up.
They Prepared.
They Trained Hard.
They Came to Win.

After pushing and testing every element of a team; tactical proficiency, physical endurance, Breaching, Medical, individual & team based skills, and shooting, York County Sheriff’s Office SWAT emerged as the 2026 Ragnarök Best SWAT Team.

Well earned. Well deserved.
