Prayer. Something that can be so selfless, but incredibly selfish at the same time. Something I myself take for granted. I want to share with y’all, a very real and raw moment that happened tonight with my Lord and Savior.

Jesus met me on my kitchen floor tonight. (A perk to living alone—only Jesus can find you crying on your kitchen floor🤭) I have been struggling with a conflict at work and completely gave the devil a foothold in my heart. I pretended that I could control everything in my life since it was going so great, but really I gave the reigns to the enemy. This caused me to start an unnecessary argument with my mom that took up our whole time on the phone. I was so upset that I ruined our precious, rare time to talk that I broke down crying on my kitchen floor. I finally cried out “okay God. I can’t control my life because that’s your job. I surrender.” In that moment Jesus joined me on that floor. He directed me to my Bible that I had left open from my quiet time this morning. I had left off at James 3: Taming the Tongue. The next subtitle was Two Kinds of Wisdom. And James 4: Submission to God. Every word in those sections were exactly what I needed to hear (even though my mom already said a few of them😬). But isn’t that what parents do? And isn’t God our daddy? He just wants us to listen and submit to him. And prayer doesn’t always mean you have to talk. That’s where I forget. A conversation is two ways. So also is a prayer.
