21 years ago, I passed my P&C insurance exam and became a licensed agent. Looking back now, it’s incredible to see how far this journey has taken me.

Today, I’m proud to run a successful agency and mentor many new agents entering the industry. This business has changed my life, and I truly believe the insurance industry creates more opportunities for financial growth and entrepreneurship than almost any other field.

Success doesn’t happen overnight — it takes discipline, consistency, and a strong work ethic. But for those willing to learn and stay committed, the opportunities are endless.

Early in my career, I believed the key to success in insurance was simple:

Be the cheapest.

For my few years, every quote followed the same approach—match coverage, keep it apples to apples, and win on price.

And to be fair, it works.

There will always be a segment of customers who make decisions based solely on price. For them, being the lowest is often the only way to earn their business.

But over time, I began to notice a shift.

The most valuable clients—the ones who stayed, trusted, and referred others—weren’t choosing based on price alone. They were choosing based on understanding.

That’s when I was introduced to value-based selling by a mentor over 15 years ago, and it completely changed my approach. šŸ”āœ…šŸš€

Instead of competing on price, I focused on educating clients—helping them understand their coverage, their risks, and the long-term impact of their decisions.

The result?

Stronger relationships, increased trust, higher retention, and significantly more referrals.
